Applying Recent Vein Image Enhancement Techniques In Vain Biometrics

چکیده

Vein pattern recognition is one of the recent methods for human identification which have advantages over other biometrics (i.e. fingerprint, face, and iris). However; due to vein image capturing methods, vein row images usually carry distortions. Preprocessing is needed to enhancing the raw captured vein images. In this paper, we examine six recent vein image enhancement techniques; we coded their algorithms using MATLAB and compared the resulting images to determine their advantages and disadvantages. The six vein image enhancement techniques are : 1) Multi threshold Fuzzy Algorithm 2) Combination of Gray-Level Grouping and Circular Gabor Filter 3) Multi-Channel Gabor Filter 4) Combination of high frequency emphasis filtering and histogram equalization 5) Vessel enhancement based on decimationfree directional filter bank 6) Combination of Non supsampled directional filtering bank and Frangi filtering.
